Here’s an interesting conundrum. From time to time, on a very random but often basis, I can’t access my personal website or email addresses associated with my website. This problem has been happening for the past several months. I can’t link the start of the problem to anything in particular. I believe I have eliminated all hardware and software possibilities with the exception of the modem/router. It’s a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 Wireless ADSL Gateway.

Let me tell you what I have done to eliminate other possibilities. I know it’s not the computer since I use both a desktop and laptop. If I can’t access the website/email on one, I can’t access it on the other. If I can access it on one, I can access it on the other.

It’s not OS or other software related problems. On the desktop I use Windows XP Pro SP2 and on the laptop I use Windows Vista. While the desktop has a lot of programs, the laptop is a bare bones setup with only the OS and MS Office 2003.

It’s not the hosting agent for my website/email since I can access my website by using a web proxy when I can’t access it directly (on both the desktop and laptop). Whenever I can’t access my website/email I can access the rest of the Internet as well as my email addresses offered through my ISP but not through my hosting agent.

That kind of narrows it down to the modem. Any suggestions?

Also, I forgot to mention, I run regular virus scans, adware scans and spyware scans with nothing found so I know it's not any of that stuff. I also do regular cleaning with Windows Washer which gets rid of a lot of stuff. I beleive my system is very clean.

I'm still having the problem. No one has any suggestions? Anyone think it's something other than the modem? Any help would be useful.
