Hi,

I am having trouble even getting into windows. I am running windows 2000. (I know it is a dino - but it is just our kick-around portable that has wireless internet - easy for us)

When I boot up, it says:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0x0ED42784C, 9x9999934, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I tried to go into safe mode, i was unable.

I also tried to run in the "last good configuration" and it did not have any for me to choose.

If I do a system restore:
1 - will it let me
2 - can I save any of my files

UGGHHHH

"Unable to enter Safe Mode" is almost always reason to perform a "Repair" install of Windows:

No files should be lost during the process. Did you carefully read whiskeyman's response to the other post?
I believe that he referenced the "7B" code.

Will this work if I am in windows 2000? If so, can I just go to system restore by pressing f8?

Howdy:

Win2000 doesn't have the System Restore capability. Only WinME and XP have it.

I think your best bet may be to slave your hdd to another system and copy your personal docs, files, pics, etc to that system.

Then, re-install the hdd back into your system and do a clean install of W2K.
