I was chatting with someone on yahoo messenger the other night then he said watch this....all of a sudden all these IM windows started popping up and then yahoo messenger/computer froze up. When I tried to relog in, same thing happened but this time more windows popped up, everytime I log on with that particular screen name, it happens, but not on any other screen name of yahoo. Any ideas would be great, this is my first post, I hope I did it right

who were you talking to?

Stands to reason that he would be a good person to ask.

I would uninstall and download the most recent Yahoo messenger. I suspect he was exploiting a security hole of some sort, or perhaps he sent you a file...that he can communicate to remotely.

I tried asking him, he told me to figure it out. I don't know him and only talked to him for about 3 minutes when he sent whatever it was, I didn't accept anything, they just started popping up. I guess what I cannot understand is why it is only on THAT particular screen name, I logged into yahoo with a different nic and it's fine.

If you did not download anything, he is likely triggering an exploit, though I am not as familiar with Messenger clients as I need to be so I do not know.

He could be attacking you by IP or username -- or a combo

Do you have a firewall?

Did you update yahoo
