Figures....it is paid for...

Emachine will not boot at all. The Windows start up begins, runs for about 5 seconds, and then error message comes on the screen:

'We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.' There is a bunch more verbiage, and then 5 options to reboot--safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or normally. After this there is a timer that sets itself to 30.

I have tried each one, to no avail. Each time, just reboots into this menu. I have recovery disks and was going to go down that path until it tried to reformat the hard drive.

Can anyone help??

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

Look for the most recent system checkpoint created before the errors to restore from

I did that, and started, and went to a point and got to boot to

system32\drivers\agpCPQ.sys

And then went back to re-booting to previously described situation....it appears as something is either missing or corrupt..any other thoughts??

Press the power button and then keep tapping the delete key until it enters set up, load BIOS defaults, press F10 to save, type Y to confirm, press enter

Would not let me do that....i can get to it via the F2 boot menu, but does not have the option to load Bios Defaults...

Has it got fail safe defaults, basic, or can you post the options

As it relates to Bios Settings:

Standard CMOS Features
--another menu

Advanced BIOS Features
--Load optimized defaults
--set supervsor password
--set user password
--save and exit
--exit w/o saving....

Thre are other menus with Advanced chipset features, integrated peripherals, pc health status

yes...I have IDC channels, VIdeo, Halt on, memory, time/date

i can get to the system format and recover softwareby Softthinks, but the only option I have is to lose all files, including data files and have the original factory-shipped files be recovered. I want to keep my data, but may not have an option.
