I have been trying to install Java for the past few days. I have ran all of the anti-spyware scan that are listed on this site, as well as Spy Sweeper. I have also ran anti-virus programs. Nothing was found, so as an extra measure, I ran the Geek Squad MRI program which has several different anti-spyware programs on it that runs in Safe Mode with minimal services running. I am attempting to install Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 1. That is the version that appears automatically when I go to the website. I have tried installing automatically through Firefox and manually through the download file. None have worked and all have produced the same error messages. Screenshots of the error messages:

The first screenshot appears during the installation. The second appears in Firefox afterward.

I have tried looking for a solution through Google, but to no avail. So I am asking for help from GTG because you have been very helpful in the past. :whistling:

That installation was successful. Should I try installing the one that I am directed to on the Java website?

If it is directing to the latest version, which it should be, then it may be as problematic

Can you run Java related tasks with this installation

The change logs for 1.6.0.0 and 1.6.0.1 only mention support for netbeans and bug fixes

- full support from NetBeans IDE 5.5
- various bug fixes and improvements

- Various bug fixes

As there isn't any mention of critical security updates then it's optional

You would need to uninstall the version you have, then see how the updated version runs

Maybe 1.6.0.1 will run when downloaded from here
