To optimize is a very vague definition.
- Do you want to backup the data?
- Do you want to separate the system from other data?
- What is the purpose of the computer?
- What is the state of you'r old HD?

When u bought the hard disk what was you'r plan?

Well, I only had a 40 GB hard drive before. And now that I have everything set up, I heard you could put some system folders in one of the hard drives to make it run smoother and faster.

As far as I know the main idea is to have on your'e main drive 40 gig only programs and systm files. And any other data\files\video... have on the seccond drive.
You might want to run disk fragmentor to set all the files that r left together to save search time on disk.
