avi movies?

Hi there. I just have a quick question. What does avi mean? and what do i need to watch avi movies?

AVI is a video format that can be different quality levels depending on the settings of the device. For example, I have a digital camera that can take AVI movies for 34 seconds in high quality, and up to 2 minutes in low quality. I just use Windows Media Player, but almost any media player that plays video will be able to play AVI.
