Using the free spyware programs that scan but do not delete threats, I've identified the bugs on my computer.

Spyware Doctor found these:

advertising
tracking cookies
system doctor (rogue anti-spyware)
8 other rogue anti spywares
3 "known bad sites"
winfixer
happytofind toolbar
virtumonde (ssttt.dll, mlljk.dll, both in system32 and both which i did not see there when i searched for them)
winantivirus
common trojan components (C:/Windows/uniq)
CWS.XPSystem
mediatickets
instafinder
some desktop search toolbar
trojan.spambot
trojan.downloader.small.cam

Another spyware program also found PurityScan and SmitFraud.

Here is my hijackthis log:

If you need more info (filenames, registry keys) about the infections i listed before, i'd be happy to run the scan again and let you know whatever you need. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Today i also got a message saying i have xloadnet.exe now too.

Hello amaksimovich and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

ALL staff here at Geeks To Go are volunteers, please bear that in mind if I don’t answer your post as quickly as you’d like; I give what time I can.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions! (Click the Options drop down near the upper right of the topic. Select Print this topic.)

You have quite a mixture of malware and Trojans. Let’s see what we can do.

Please Disable Spyware Doctor. From within Spyware Doctor, click the OnGuard button on the left side. Uncheck Activate OnGuard

To start please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

Killbox by Option^Explicit
CCleaner
combofix.exe

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When it has finished, it will produce a log. Please post that log in your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Right click on this link Del 015 Domains.inf and choose Save (link) As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1557B435-8242-4686-9AA3-9265BF7525A4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\usubkbkl.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9DF88A7F-808D-4AB7-AD7A-3476ACEB25DD} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutu.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xloadnet] "C:\Program Files\xloadnet\xloadnet.exe"
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.sxload.net (HKLM)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select Delete on Reboot
  • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):
C:\Program Files\xloadnet\xloadnet.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\usubkbkl.dll
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, ensure you uncheck old prefetch data found under the Windows tab, and under the heading of Applications, Utilities uncheck AVGas Anti-Spyware then click Analyze> Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and I will take another look.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate you taking the time to help.

Couple things-

The third and fourth files you told me to fix with hijackthis were not there anymore (the O4 and O15)

Both files you told me to kill with killbox were not found.

I removed a few of the spyware programs I had (spysweeper, spydoctor) because I don't use them, and they were only taking up space. The resident program on my computer is Ad-Aware. I will reinstall any of those if you need me to later on.

I also already have CCleaner and use it every week or so, but I ran it again now and it got a good 91 Mb of data. A few days ago, I believe it found over 1000 Mb.

Here are fresh combofix and hijackthis logs:

Hello again Andrew

I tend to use the belt and braces approach, so often I will double the fix just in case the first one fails. The 04 and 015 entries being missing, tells me that ComboFix did its job well. I now see 4 main things I need to fix. In terms of priority, it will be Vundo followed by Puper, then the rest.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log, from normal mode, in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Now that the automated Vundofix has run a check against its internal database, please try running it bit differently, with the manual additions as below:
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • You will receive a message saying Vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK.
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once the scan is complete, right-click inside the listbox (white box) and click Add more files?
  • Copy & paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes:
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutu.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ututv.*
  • Click Add Files and click Close Window.
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a fresh HiJackThis log, from normal mode.

Hello again Andrew

The Vundofix logs appeared to be from different days. The only thing I am interested in is today's scans and the results.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Safe Mode

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, (right click and choose Extract All) then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool. Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
______________________________

Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
  • Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
  • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
  • On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
  • In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
  • On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
  • Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
  • Click OK.
Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.
______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the Programme and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
______________________________

Please post:
  • c:\rapport.txt
  • A new HijackThis log (from normal mode).
You may need more than one reply to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.

I'm sorry about the VundoFix logs, all I can tell you is that the manual scan you asked me to run seemed to have the desired result.

I recently downloaded the new microsoft update for IE, so the instructions were slightly different and the reset button was not under the "programs" tab. I do believe i found it under the "advanced" tab, and I'm pretty sure i did the right thing.

Two other things:

There was no entry under the web desktop window in the display settings. It was blank.

Also, the recycling bin was already empty before I got to it.

Otherwise, so far so good. Here are the two logs, I will post the HJT log in a separate post-

Hello again Andrew

Yes, I really ought to update my fixes to take into account the latest MSIE.

The logs look good.

Updating Java and Clearing Cache
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
  • If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please scan with ComboFix again and post that log

Reboot normally and rescan with HJT for a fresh log and post that too.

How's the PC running now?

The computer runs great! No real problems. It is a little slow though on startup and in opening programs, but it's probably not a malware thing. Do you think I'd be able to show you my add/remove programs list and my startup configuration, so in the interest of having my computer run as efficiently as possible we could get rid of whatever doesnt need to be there?

Hello Andrew

I have always prided myself on being able to take a hint. I will give you a recommendation for boot up speed and surfing after this fix

Please delete these files and folder:

C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group\ - folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljjj.dll - file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjjlm.bak1 - file

You may have to boot into safe mode to do so.

Please confirm that they have been deleted by checking after a reboot.

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK

Under the "General" Tab

Ensure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" is checked.

Click Apply->OK->Follow the prompts to Restart

Please post a fresh HJT log.

The folder was deleted, but the two files i looked for were not where they were supposed to be. Couldn't find 'em.

In MSConfig, a good 2/3 of the startup programs were disabled. I probably did this sometime in the past to try to speed up the start up.

Here's the new HJT:

Hello again Andrew

Those files do exist and must be deleted. Please download to your desktop: Killbox by Option^Explicit

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljjj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjjlm.bak1

Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

How's it running now?

Everything's running great.

Couple thing-

Will all the changes i made with TuneUp still be in effect after i delete it?

Killbox only allowed me to paste in one of the files at a time. First, i deleted C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjjlm.bak1, restarted, and that went fine. However, after reboot, the other file could not be found where it was supposed to be. So, mljjj.dll is still on the loose.

Here is the newest HJT log, hopefully we can still find it:

Hello again Andrew

It is possible, although improbable, that we have a ghost entry in your registry; the phenomena does exist. This will prove or deny. BTW, your HJT log is still clean and I still need to give you final clean up instructions, which I will do after your reply.

Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
Copy ALL THE TEXT contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljjj.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

Now, start The Avenger programme by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • Upon reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy & paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log from normal mode, by using Add Reply
