[homestar_runner6]

Windows refuses to reinstall Norton's Antivirus, print, switch users, choose the XP themed design in Display Properties, and I can't get rid of MediaAccK.exe or MediaAccess.exe. I've run Ad-Aware, but it can't get rid of everything. I'm not really sure what to do next.

no fix here but i got the same problem, just some extra info. seems to create several executable files, names a bit randomized in c:\winnt\system32, names 8 characters of mixed letters and numbers plus ".exe". also creates folders program files\media access, program files\common files\wintools, program files\toolbar and files contained in those folders. new running processes from this that i noticed were
program files\toolbar\tbps.exe and program files\toolbar\radio.exe. also creates a bunch of registry keys i forgot to take down, found them by searching through regedit with variations of created applications names and anything mentioned in their properties, this thing not only recreates deleted files but also the registry keys too. som links are also created in the start menu. as administrator of the machine you willl still be denied access to delete some of the files and shortcuts. the final irritation i picked up was that some archives are created on the drive that are password protected and could not be virus scanned without the password. personally i use different partitions for windows and my games/media and crap like this is just the reason. i reformatted the system partition and reinstalled everything there rather than wait for news. [bleep] curious as to the full extent of the thing, got it through msn, posing as one of my contacts(infected with same thing) and sending me messages.
