AVI TO DVD?

I regularly download 700mb AVI files and burn them to DVD-R's using ConvertX to DVD. The files are from the same source, but recently my DVD's have been skipping alot on both of my standalone DVD players after I burn them. What is up with that? Then I try Xilisoft DVD Creator 3 and it works just fine... I would like to know what may be causing ConvertX to DVD to be having problems all of the sudden.
