Please help me understand Blackberry Push email.

I tried to do a search on the internet but got confusing answers....

Can anyone tell me how it works and is it true that it doesn't work on IMAP and why?

I presume "Blackberry Push" is this:

In which case it looks like the same principle of text messaging - somebody texts you, it gets sent to you, you don't go to your mobile phone network to get the text. Therefore Blackberry Push seems the same idea - they send you the email, you don't get the email yourself on a PC.
