I am trying to repair an HP laptop which will not boot up. I do not have a floppy A drive. The sites I have checked seem too complicated to make a bootable flash drive as easy as it can be done with a floppy. Does anyone have any ideas to simplify this process? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I went the easy route (since I was having difficulty figuring out how to use the suggested commands to extract the bootsector in Bart's mkbt util), and used the HP Drive Key Boot Utility Version 7.41 (as my laptop is an HP), which I used on the Flash Drive. No success. When I plugged in the stick into the usb port, all I get is the Windows XP welcome window for about 5 minutes, then a blank screen. I did enter the bios to make sure the boot order was first on the removable device instead of the hard drive. Any further suggestions?
