I have had a problem with my machine for a few days now.
Symptoms inlcude;
Mouse move uncontrollably, vanishes and reappears randomly
Attempting to connect via a linksys wireless modem is unsuccessful.

I was unable to run some of the programs listed in the Hijack log instructions page, i.e. the online scans, but i had updated and run a full system scan with norton antivirus to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just moved my machine to where it can be hardwired to my modem (which works fine with my laptop) and it would not ocnnect to my modem. I would recognize that the modem existed but said that there was limited or no connectivity.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Thnaks for your help, but i found a solution. I did a registry check which found several errors, did a trojan scan which found a trojan and replaced my mouse....
What a pain...seems to be working fine.

So how did I get infected in the first place?


These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox .
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
