At what point during the installation? Is this a new build, upgrade, or repair install?

Do you get into the setup menu? Is it the point in which you are asked to partition the drive when you recieve an error?

Have you checked your bios for HDD settings?

What kind of MOBO do you have? Did it come with a manual? The various BIOS menus are different depending on your brand and model. Usually you can get away with just exploring around your BIOS menus to find something that could be related.
