One additional error condition may be the solution [BIOS SETUP]
Depending on age of PC Check your BIOS Setup PS/2 Plug & Play setting may be DISABLED if you originally were using a Serial Mouse or USB Mouse
Also you may have a Power Management Setting Set for Power ON by USB Mouse
Also check to see if USB Legacy Mouse Support is Disabled

Time Out
Maybe we are rushing the troubleshooting a bit?? We are giving solutions without any data collection on PC Motherboard Specs & Mouse Specs We have no idea what equipment you are using yet we are spewing out solutions?? That may be harmful to the PS/2 Ports -
Give the following data so we can properly research the problem
1. Computer Manufacturer & Model Number of each of your computers
2. Motherboard Manufacturer & Model Number of each of your computers
3. Type of PC for each Laptop Desktop Tower Desktop
4. The age of each Computer
5. Give Operating System of each PC
6. Turn the Mouse over & give the Mouse Manufacturer Model Specs of each Mouse that you are using -
There are a number of Mouse Configurations which may not be compatible with each of your PCs -
1. USB Mouse
2. Serial Mouse
3. PS/2 Mouse
4. BUS Mouse
5. USB / PS/2 Compatible
PS/2 ports are designed to connect the digital I/O lines of the microcontroller in the external device directly to the digital lines of the micro-controller on the motherboard. They are not designed to be hot swappable. Hot swapping PS/2 devices usually does not cause damage due to the fact that more modern micro-controllers tend to have more robust I/O lines built into them which are harder to damage; however, hot swapping can still potentially cause damage. Also we do not know how old each PC is. Shorting one pin to another on a PS/2 port can easily kill one or both micro-controllers.
And by the way Welcome to Geeks to Go
