cannot remove symantec antivirus

hi,
i have windows xp sp2. i am using symantec antivirus version 10.0.1.1000. i am not able to remove symantec antivirus. the only thing in the control panel is the liveupdate from symantec. is there a away i can remove it? please help

This is how to Remove Norton and Symantec from your System Please also check using the Search Function look in Hidden files and Folders for Symantec Products. Good Luck

hi,
i ran the removal tool. the only problem is that it asked me to remove symantec antivirus from add/remove pgm in control panel.... there is no such program in my add remove list of applications. what can i do?

Hi ekikos
If your sure it is Not in Add and Remove check by Searching in the Hidden Files and Folders and see if there is any Trace there of it or Symantec and Post back.

this is whats weird about it.... i have a folder in my c:\program files but not in the add remove programs.

Did the removal tool halt on not being able to remove it from add and remove, if not run it

the symantec antivirus does not appear on the add remove list. what is the removal tool that i need to run in order to try and remove it. if i need to run a removal tool how would i run it?

hi,
sorry about the long delay i was on vacation. i was running the removal tool you have suggested ...when i ran it....it first asked me to remove symantec antivirus from the add remove programs. the problem again is that it does not appear there. please advise
