I was cleaning out some old software that I no longer use and noticed "Intel® extreme graphics driver software"
Which is odd as I have a AMD Athlon xp2800 (compaq) machine with an Nvidia geforce 4 mx440 (128mb) graphics card pre-installed.

There is only a "remove" button but when I click this I get a slight flicker and nothing happens.

What is it doing there and why am I unable to remove it ?

It has been suggested that it was the onboard video, but I dont buy this as I have the affore mentioned processor and the graphics card was pre-installed.

You can try to delete the program from the registry. To avoid the possiblity of serious problems backup the registry before making any changes. To backup: click Start > Run. Type regedit. Go to File > Export. Give the backed-up file a recognizeable name and back it up to your desktop. If something goes wrong you can recover the registry by going in the registry editor to File > Import and import the backed-up file.

To delete the intel program:

Click Start, Run and type regedit.
Within the registry, open the below key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Within the above registry key, select the program you wish to uninstall from the right side of the window. Right click on the program and choose Delete.
