I just had a Latitude laptop replaced by Dell but I have to send the old one back. How do I completely format the hard drive so it is totally void of any of my information?
I have XP professional.
Thanks! Dave

Find out its manufacturer, download the utility from the appropriate website, there should be an option to low-level format it.

Darek's Boot and Nuke
This program completely erase all data on the drive(s)
you can download Boot and Nuke to run on floppy disk or cd and dvd

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Click this for a guide to using Boot and Nuke

Make sure you backup important files.
