I have recently started getting into CS Source seriously after almost 6 years of loving the original CS. in the beginning after installation all was fine; CSS often updated itself, and there were no errors. but a few days ago CSS has started freezing in between gameplay. the game gets stuck, and the last bit of sound keeps looping like crazy. no, the screen does not go blank. all i can do here is press the Windows button to return to the desktop and then restart CSS. it freezes randomly, sometimes after just a minute of play and sometimes after hours of pwnage. and i currently play against bots [to get the hang of the game
]. i tried finding out what the problem was and thus turned down the graphic settings to the lowest possible [resolution is still at 1024x768], updated my graphics drivers, monitored my graphics card's temperature and ran
this testbut all this to no avail. graphics drivers are up-to-date, its temperature remains normal and constant at all times and I get 'Passed' in all processes in the test. there are no error messages.
here are some specs:
Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz FSB [no HyperThreading
]
Gigabyte SINXP Limited Edition motherboard
XFX GeForce 6200 XXX Edition 256MB AGP 8X
1 GB DDR400 RAM [on dual channel]
this is happening only with CSS. i think my PC is quite weak to provide great performance [still collecting for a new PC] but it still meets all requirements and i have friends who hav much weaker PCs but they can run source without freezing
