Monitor Resolution won't change

I have Ubuntu at the moment, and was going to dual boot with windows XP pro, but when i did, my screen resolution remained at the lowest and the colours were all messed up, can anyone suggest what is wrong? and how to make it work?

Hi rage6346!

You need to install the video drivers for your computer. If you need help doing so, please give me the Make and Model number if it's a prebuilt (like a Dell, HP, Compaq, etc...). If it's a self-built computer, please give me the make and model # of the motherboard.
