CD Drive not recognising discs

When im inserting the disc to install software the drive is spinning etc etc but nothing is coming up at all, checked the drive through my computer and nothing in drive folder at all.

any suggestions.

its not this pc im using but another one

the problem is that the pc that is given me trouble has no internet access im trying to install software for a wireless adaptor to gain access to the internet on it , will these programs fit on a floppy?

do you think maybe the drive is knackered? and should i try another one in its place

Worth trying if you have another drive

Another thing to check is firmware, which should fit on a floppy

Be careful to get the correct one as they are usually irreversible

Click start, right click my computer, click properties, hardware, device manager

Click the + next to DVD / CD Rom Drives
