About 2 weeks ago I was infected with a virus (don't remember the name) and cleaned it out of my system. But ever since, my computer seems real slow. I am running AVG spyware, AVG virus and Windows defender. All the XP updates have been installed on a regular basis.

This week I did a "cleanup" and a defrag to no avail.

My system is runnniing Windows XP-Professional with Intel Pentium 4 1.8ghz and 256 megs of ram.

Any help would be appreciated!

More ram would really help.

Uninstall windows defender as it doesn't find much of anything.
You could use ad aware to replace it.

I don't know what "cleanup" things you refer to but deleting old restore points frees up space.
Intermediate section, item 5 on the list below.

This is most likely because the virus was only patrially removed. Read this first: http://www.geekstogo...-Log-t2852.html. Our malware forum is located here: http://www.geekstogo...o-Here-f37.html.

If you are still having problems after a malware experts passes you as 'clean', then return to this thread and we will be glad to help.
