When I turn on my PC WinME operating system, and before my desktop finishes loading I get this message: Stmgr has caused an error in WINTRUST.DLL.

I have also gotten this message, but not on startup: Sucatreg has caused an error in WINTRUST.DLL.

Thank 4 the help !!!

Most probably caused by a Windows update that has corrupted the contents of a folder called 'catroot'. The solution which proved successful for all people I know it happened to is this:

1. Locate the folder C:\Windows\system\catroot

2. Rename that folder (catroot) to catroot_old

3 Restart Windows and it should create a new catroot folder.and you shouldn't get that error.

4. If all is well you can safely delete the 'catroot_old' folder which you earlier renamed.
