Windows Update

I downloaded the latest Windows update today but have not been able to install it. During the installation process I get the following message:

The instruction at "0x745f2780" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

The installation then terminates.

Please help me understand how to get past this issue. Thank you.
