comp not rebooting right

hi this has only started recently........when i start or reboot windows......at the bottom of my screen a scan or search line appears......i dont know what else to call it as i have never seen this before........this takes a few mins then windows starts up.......it dosent affect any of my programmes well not yet........win xp home edition SP2
