I know scripting isn't technically programming, but what is a good scripting language to start off with? I know this has been asked, but (forgive my lack of knowledge on scripting) I want to learn a couple of scripting languages to possibly help me with games programming. I hope to one day get into the games industry, but at the moment I'm learning C++, 3D modeling and animation with Blender and researching some other programming languages, just to learn as much as I can.

PS. Are all scripting languages to do with websites? Again, please forgive my ignorance but scripting hasn't interested me untill I found this site.

I would like to back up the section that HTML, Javascript, and C are the least complex.

Rather than saying which is the easiest language, I would rather pick the easiest language to become a programmer with. I don't have enough experience with other languages yet to state anything as facts. However, I am currently taking my third class dealing with C++. Out of all the students that I run across, the ones that do the best are the ones that started with a language like C++, and not a "easy" language like Visual Basic.

Since I started with C++, how can I say its more difficult then other languages and give up on it? Easy, I can't. Since I'm not focused on thinking its hard, I get to spend my time actually learning it.

With my adventures of programming languages, Python and Java were fun to play around with. Python was a very easy syntax and you can achieve quite abit of practical applications with it. Java was great for learning how much syntax counts and the memorization of techniques are fun. Overall though I must say you just need to choose a language and stay with it. Play around with it and you'll eventually be very good at it. Then other programming languages will be easy to learn because of your prior knowledge.
And always have fun :)

I must disapprove on that one, the Ruby framework has been prove to be really slow compare to other big framework like Zend. Ruby is a really really good framework to use, and is working pretty well, but some research have prove that Ruby is a slow language compare to many others ...

the CEO of RoR announced to fix the problem in a really short manner of time
