When I want to read/copy files from some dvds my computer freezes. Other dvds work normal. The same dvds that cause my computer freeze are working normal on other computer. Why is this happening?

Are they all the same type? basically there are two main types for the purpose of this query, DVD-R and DVD+R. The type will be printed on the disc itself. Some older drives can't read both types (usually they can read DVD-R but not DVD+R.

Without wishing to confuse you, there is now a third type called 'Double-layer' (often referred to wrongly as 'dual-layer). This type is still quite new and nowhere near as popular as the other two because the discs are very expensive. Only drives made during the last 2/3 years can read these and they are almost always DVD-writers, not just readers.
