Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then summary

Look on the right for multimedia / soundcard

Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System

If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything

Please set a system restore point before you install anything

Did you get a motherboard CD with the computer

In Everest, does it say Realtek anywhere for sound

Can you post what Everest has for the motherboard

AC'97 Audio Drivers and Software
Due to the variety of different AC'97 codecs that are available, Intel does not offer AC'97 reference audio drivers for public download. Please refer to the system or motherboard manufacturer for any driver downloads or updates. If you have an Intel motherboard, please refer to the motherboard support site to determine which audio component is used on your motherboard.

Note: Some Intel motherboards have the option to use a Creative Labs* SoundBlaster* audio component instead of the AC'97 codec. Again, you will need to refer to the motherboard support site to determine which component you have.
