No applications will connect to the internet such as steam or winamp and i have turned off all firewalls on my computer

need more information. can you connect with Internet Explorer? Are you on broadband? have you tried power cycling your modem?

Now as apps go only aol isntant messanger is working on my comp, yes i am connected on dsl help me out with power cyling my modem what is that and is their any onther suggestions you can give me B4 i end up reformatting my computer
