Hi, I had a Medion 250GB External HDD and was using it for a couple of minutes without any problems. Then after I transfered some of my files onto the disk the power light went off and now I can't access the drive at all.
It's showing up in device manager and it says that 'the device is working properly'.
But I cannot access it in explorer and it doesn't show up in disk management. Also when I try to populate in the volume tab of the properties it says 'unreadable' in the status.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with this as the files that I transferred where important work documents

Thanks in advance.

Hi roydrip!

Do you by chance happen to have the External USB drive plugged into one of the front USB ports on your computer? If so, power off the hard drive, plug it into one of the back USB ports and then turn the hard drive back on.

Are you sure the USB ports on the back of your computer are USB 2.0 and not 1.1? USB hard drives will not work with USB 1.1 ports.

Yes that means you have 2.0. I would check and see if the hard drive works in another computer to rule out a bad hard drive.
