Has this just started or has it done this from the beginning?

Do you use a desktop computer or a laptop?

good question.

Standby is....finicky. It is very hardware and bios dependent, as window controls the hardware.

Ive had machines work fine, then update the bios and not work....maddening.

Rather than retype a lot of stuff...here is a page full of standby help.

http://www.kellys-ko.../xp_standby.htm

Hope it helps, but standby seems to be full of disappointments

First thing to consider getting it working is to see if there is a BIOS update for your machine.
