I've got a bit of a problem.

I recently used the repair install to fix up my Windows XP.

Problem is, now I can't view my hidden files?

I go to Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files & Folders

But when I press Apply & OK, they don't show. I go back to the View options and its gone back to "Do Not Show Hidden..."

What's wrong??

Also, something has gone funny with my start menu, I'll post pics later. Also, the usual XP Blue Bar at the top has gone REALLY small and the buttons (minimize + close and stuff) have also gone tiny.

Dave.

Back up 'My Documents' to flash-drive or another partition, then re-install from scratch to the existing Windows partition instead of doing a repair install.

How should I go about backing-up over 60GB of data?

I've got an external hard drive but its already full...of more data. Lol.

Do you have any windows Skinning Program installed at all?

Have you added anything or removed anything from your system lately?

Backup 60GB of data is enough to warrant getting another HDD to backup.

How big is C:\WINDOWS supposed to be, typically?

Mine's over 5GB, for some reason. I don't think that's normal...

Would it have anything to do with backing up of some files before the XP Repair install?

I did it from HP's Recovery Partition, btw.
