Can't see images?

My wife has a new Compaq laptop that has VISTA installed on as the OS.

She said she was able to see images on sites like QVC, Cold Water Creek, sites that sell junk and now the images don't load. Just a little red box appears where the image should be.

She has no clue about computers and I doubt she changed any settings.

Suggestions please?
