I got plaqued by pop-ups yesterday, slower connections and so on... then my father thought "WinAntiVirus 2007" was an update and downloaded it accidently after our Trend Micro said we should update our PC. We get attacked by Pop-ups every time we go to the internet explorer and the speed sucks :whistling: Please help ASAP as I need my lap top soon...using my olde PC right now! Thanks!

Here's my HijackThis log:

Yeah...I was just wondering why it was so short! It's been annoying saving the log on a flash drive then running and sticking them into different computers because I turned the internet off on that one to prevent any more screw-up! Sorry, I'm a bit of a computer savvy! hope this helps:

***If you already have VundoFix on your computer, please delete it. We need to be sure you have the latest version.***

Please download VundoFix.exe (by Atribune) to your Desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.
If there is a file that Vundo can't/doesn't remove; Rerun the scan at least 3 times to see if Vundofix can 'learn' to remove the file.

Again --- go to C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\Anti Virus\HijackThis and right click it then choose Rename..then change name to whatever.exe.

Then post a fresh HijackThis log and the c:\vundofix.txt

You must print this out or save a copy to Notepad for reading because you can NOT have IE/FF or any browser open while doing the fix.

It appears you have more than one Avti-virus program installed..While one is a MUST two is NEVER a good idea as they will fight for control of your system and use up valuable system resources.
Choose one to keep and uninstall the other(s)

Open HijackThis and click on Do a system scan only. Place a check mark next to the following:

Hello there,
I have followed your instruction and completed the scan as per details below.
Only one thing different is I installed the update Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 1 instead of JRE 5 U 8. Hope it is ok.

I was unable to get everything to fit on here so i uploaded it instead:

Good job your log is clean.

You can delete the vundofix and C:\VundoFix Backups\ folder/files now..

I suggest you keep the ATF cleaner and make it part of your weekly maintenance routine

First, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
[/list]System Restore will now be active again.

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.

Sorry for the late reply. We got hit by cyclone and just managed to put back the internet.
I have followed the instruction, also upload most of the recommended spyware etc.
Many thanks indeed.
I have also installed these protection in the other pc. I am thinking about to run hijack to check the other machine.
Thanks again,bye
