i bought a 320 gb hard drive and its being read as 34gb im running windows xp pro sp 2 the hdd is a hitatchi htd

Is this an external or internal drive, was it formatted when you got it or did you have to format it? And what kind of machine do you have? It's very hard to know the cause of the problem with such little information.
