Hi,

At one of our offices in Bergen, some users are recieving the following error while trying to print.

"Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications."

This error occurs even with nothing open except excel.

Is there an easy explination/solution to this??

Kind Regards

Ewan

Hi ewanfraser.

We'll need more information in order to assist you with this issue.

1. What version of Excel? Please include SPs. In Excel, click Help, About...

2. What Operating System on the affected machines?

3. How much RAM on the affected machines?

4. Is the printer networked or local to the affected machines?

LindaGail,

Thanks for the quick reply

1. MS Excel 2003 SP2 (Office Standard Edition 2003)

2. MS XP Pro 2002 SP2

3. 512Mb RAM

4. Networked Printer

It has now been brought to my attention that, it happens with more than one user, all users will have the same setup though.

Regards
Ewan

How many users are having this issue?

How long has the error been happening?

What might have happened on those systems just prior?

Are those users on a domain?

Is the networked printer attached to a workstation and shared, the server and shared, or a print server device?

Nothing out of the ordinary has happened on the systems prior, it has been happening since mid february, all users are on our domain, the printer is shared over the network via a printer server.

Not sure how many users have been having the issue, there is a time delay due to time zones so wouldnt be able to tell you right away, i can find out for you though.

I have also been told there is no set pattern to when it happens, it just happens now and again.

If there is no immediate reason that you can think of, we may have to send someone over there.

If it all started in mid-February, it could be related to some of the Microsoft updates. Or it could possibly be specific Excel files causing the error. See this link for more information.

But because of our time difference, you'd probably be better off sending the technician. Sorry we couldn't be more help. Good luck!
