***THIS IS A REVISED POST***

I apologize for any inconvenience, but I posted a Log yesterday and did not realize that I had to enable all things in the Start tab of MS Config. So sorry!

==========================================

I have used Ad Aware, Spybot, a-squared, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and several other utilities, yet I continue to get 're-directs' and critical items. Here is my Hijack This! log; any help would be appreciated:

You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive; please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it. It is very important you do this before anything else!

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE<<resource hog
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O16 - DPF: {3299935F-2C5A-499A-9908-95CFFF6EF8C1} (Quicksilver Class) - http://scpwha.ops.pl...quicksilver.cab

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

I need you to disable system restore until we are through.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

How to Turn On and Turn Off System Restore in Windows XP
http://support.micro...kb;en-us;310405

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe
O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe

Run adaware and clean out your temp. files.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Each time I have Fixed the HijackThis stuff, and deleted the C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe -- when I re-start, my Windows Installer 'reconfigures' my Cox Security Software (Authentium console provided by Cox Communications). This may not be news to you, but it happened more than once, so I wanted to pass that on to you.

OK. I want you to make sure system restore is still off.

Please run a trojan scan from www.moosoft.com

Then run a virus scan from

www.housecall.com or from http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

You will need to use IE to download the virus scans.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe
O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUserInit.exe

Run adaware and clean out your temp. files.

I read something about this infection the other day. Let me research it. Until then, try the above fix. :tazz:

I'll not turn System Restore back on until you say it is time to do so.....

I'll do these steps....they are the same as before except for the virus scans....

Yes, please do. Also, when you are in safe mode and have deleted that file. Run adaware from safe mode. I believe you have already downloaded it. If not, please download it before you start the fix.
