there should be this... streaming proxy settings, http: auto detect, and rtsp, with a configure button below it

i'll be honest with you im not convinced it is your media player im looking into perhaps its i/e 7. if push comes to shove take it off an reinstall it. is it just a few sites that this happens on?

you're probably right with it being IE7 cause WMP player works fine in most cases. For example, WMP11 works fine when it has to open in order to open internet videos. Its just if sites have their own WMP popup window that issues arise. I guess this is a nuisance rather than anything else. It's just those few sites (CNN, Yahoo, MSN, BBC) that have issues.
