You don't need to save it. Just EDIT > SELECT ALL (or CTRL-A)
EDIT > COPY (or CTRL-C)
the select a post box and
EDIT >PASTE (or CTRL-V)

Something good for getting rid of Wild Tangent is Spybot - Search and Destroy.

It will normally fix these problems. If it doesn't You can always edit the registry. But I'll let Gerryf take you through all of that.

For what ever reason I can not cut and paste. There is a button to save. There is an area that says scan and fix stuff and there is an area that says other stuff. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

When you press that button, it tries to open in MS Picture?

Boy, another problem.

OK, when you open hijackthis without saving a log, you will see a list of checkboxes.

Look through the list for Wildtangent. There will be at least 2. check those lines.

I am not familiar with this file....IPHLPAPI.DLL
There is LIKELY a startup setting for this too. Check it as well. If not, report back (did this start occuring after uninstalling a program).

Press FIX button

For the not opening in notepad, right click on your desktop, choose NEW > select TEXT DOCUMENT....this will create a new text document on your desktop called NEW TEXT DOCUMENT.txt. Click in an empty space on your desktop, now right click the newly created document and choose OPEN WITH...CHOOSE PROGRAM, scroll through the list, choose NOTEPAD, and click the ALWAYS USE SELECTED PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS KIND OF FILE box and hit OK

There was only 1 wild tangent and I fixed that.

I did not uninstall anything so I am not sure why problem started.

When I do the new document thing I do not have option of open with it just has open and word pad does open.

I appreciate your help. I am off to work now so I will check back when I get home if you have any other suggestions. Thanks!

I tried again and it still open Microsoft Picture It - I know wierd right?

OK i did that for NOTEPAD however when I run Hijackthis I still can't save it because it tries to save to Microsoft Picture it. This is making me nuts. Then all these windows started opening and I couldn't close anything. I wish there was another way for me to get the log posted for help.
