Highlight newley installed programs

Please can anyone advise me

Cant get newly installedprograms to highlight in xp pro or the balloon to say that a new programe has been installed

Have enabled it in the properties of the start menu but is does not work
Sad I know but it is annoying me that I cant get it too work

Any help would be appreciated

I am not sure if I understand your post Could you please clarify.

All I got is that you installed a program and are getting a balloon that says it has been installed.

You go into all programs in the start menu and the program newly installed is not highlighted?

I,ll explain

When a new program is installed by default xp hightlights the new program in the all programs menu and also
a balloon pops up saying new software installed

I cannot get this to work
I have enable it in the start menu properties dialog box but it wont work
