XP Freezing Up

II have windows XP in my HP Pavillion PC and lately it freezes up on me and its driving me nuts!! I have to restart the pc in order to get going again. I have checked the antivirus and its ok, nothing there. However, when I use the pc and stop using it for a minute or two, when I come back to it, it has frozen. Can someone help? Please?

sounds like hibernation or standby issues go here...see if that helps..if after trying their fixes it still happens post back and we can try other things
