Hi the Forum, hope you can help.
I recently deleted/uninstalled Microsoft Office XP Pro which wasn't working, I thought it was just one programme, unfortunately it took with it Access, Word, PP Viewer etc. I can't re-install as I don't have a disc as my IT chap back in the UK installed it for us a number of years ago and untill recent times I was unaware it was a copy until I tried to update and kept asking me for the disc..
I have Access datbases (2001/2 onwards I think) which I cant access.
Questions.
In light of the fact my Office XP Pro has probably gone forever (unless someone here tells me differently) I have found/installed Word Viewer, PP Viewer and XL Viewer from Microsoft. What I can't do is get Snapshot Viewer (for my Access files) to download properly as it keeps coming up with 'Win16 system may be unstable' etc (not the full error message) is there a file fix anyone knows of please to overcome the problem, if not has anyone got any other type of solution please?
Regards.
Zanshin.

Thank you for your help sir. I have tried the first fix and still no luck, after the programme installs, (as with all the other installlations) the next window, which I presume is the programme opening, just stays blank and the timer hangs. When I try to close it, that is when the Win16 Subsystem error comes up....thanks for trying. I am currently downloading Openoffice, will let you know how it goes.
With thanks,
Zanshin.

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD

Windows File Protection will show an on screen blue progress bar which will simply disappear when the scan is complete, reboot when it does

Occasionally the system file check does not start using run, so you can also right click the taskbar, click task manager, click file, new task, type sfc /scannow then click OK

If you do not have an XP CD you can borrow a same version as was originally installed XP CD, if you downloaded SP2 then you need an SP1 XP CD
