Hi, I just followed all of the beginning steps as well as running webroot spy sweeper. I still have pop-ups from oinadserve, casalemedia, revenue something. Also my IE explorer will shut down suddenly and the computer will freeze up.

We'll need to unload (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system.

===============

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:

1. Click "Free Online Scan".
2. Click "Scan now, it's free".

It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's done:

1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) "Auto Clean".
3. Click "Scan".

When it completes, copy the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted and post them when your done with the following fix.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

WildTangent
AWS

===============

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit "OK"
Scroll down and find the service called.

Make sure it is selected in color. Right click on the service and click on "Stop". Right click on it again and go to "Properties". In the Properties screen and under the "General Tab", change the Startup Type to "Disabled" in the dropdown box. Click on "Apply". Then "OK". Thanks for all your help!

The scan from Trendmicro.com left one file that could not be deleted:

C:\Windows\system32\ixlqcxox.dll

However, I was able to manually delete from your list, so I think that will take care of that problem.

I could not delete Wild Tangent from the control panel, it just did nothing when I chose to add/remove it. I did remove the Wild Tangent folder and then deleted from the control panel.

* Copy and paste the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{9A525AA0-367F-6E40-ADB4-21D4880F2F24} into the address bar on top in Registrar Lite.
* Click the Go button.
* Once located, right-click and select: Properties
* Click Permissions, Click the Advanced button
* Place a checkmark next to the following:
* 'Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects...'
* Click OK, Ok again and delete the key


Repeat those steps for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{958DCF59-9244-3DE9-1002-851D3C88BC54}

We'll need to unload (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system.

We'll need to download these program(s) to help us deal with the "About:Blank" infection:

Download, unzip to your desktop CWShredder and run it, then:

1. Click "Check For Update"

(If an update isn't available, skip to step #4.)

2. Click "Click here to Download the update".
3. When the new version has been downloaded, click "Save".
4. Exit the program.

Download, unzip to your desktop About:Buster and run it, then:

1. Click "Update".
2. Click "Check For Update"

(If no new version is available, skip to step #4.)

3. Click "Download Update", and wait for it to be installed.

Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode"

Next, locate CWShredder that you downloaded earlier and run it, then:

Make sure it is selected in color. Right click on the service and click on stop. Right click on it again and go to Properties. In the Properties screen and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled in the dropdown box. Click on Apply. Then OK. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit OK
Scroll down and find the service called.

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I)

Make sure it is selected in color. Right click on the service and click on stop. Right click on it again and go to Properties. In the Properties screen and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled in the dropdown box. Click on Apply. Then OK. If the service isn't listed go ahead with the rest of these instructions anyway.

Download, install, update and run these programs.

1. AVG Anti-Virus (Free version available)
AVG Anti-Virus

2. Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software.

3. Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot.
