The other day I shook hands with a delightfull young chap named OuterInfon needless to say I've spent the last few hours downloading countless "anti" everythings to scrub the lil'[bleep] out. I was checking Add and Remove Programs for anything unfamiliar, when I saw SoundMax, I couldn't remember if I had seen that before or not-but I decided not to take chances and uninstalled it.

After that, I wondered why my sound wasn't working, and the icon from my desktop was missing. I checked the applet, and realized what I did.
And for the life of me, I can't find any downloads anywhere...
Please, feel free to insult my lack of common sense and memory.

Assuming you have not disabled "system restore", you could use that to roll back your PC to a date when it was working ok -- that should restore your sound. Try that first and if no joy you'll then need to download and run "belarc advisor" and post the system info to us so we can see what motherboard it has. All that wasn't really necessary. Just go to the Dell website, to Drivers and Downloads, put your Service Tag number in, look for the Soundmax drivers and run the installer. You may want to put the Driver and Download page for your service tag # into favorites.
