Overture Nightmare

Here is the story in brief: I recently did a system recovery on this computer, due to a nasty virus that destroyed mostly everything on the comp. The comp is now up and running again but with a very sluggish nature and a seriously twisted homepage Hijack from the wonderful producers of Hp and Overture! I have gone through registry changing and cleaning but to no avail can I get rid of this cr@p Overture! It just constantly redirects me and plants itself as the default homepage! Closing the most recent version of internet explorer constantly when I try and launch it!
I have updated, and downloaded and scanned and seriously nothing is ridding me of this annoyancy!
