Hi, my name is Peter, i was on my computer last night playing counter strike source witha friend and all of a sudden my pc restarts. When it booted up again i let it idle a bit and about 2 minutes later it restarts again. So i powered it off using the power supply and went to bed (thinking nothing of it). The next day i went to boot it up and when it loaded up, 2 minutes later it restarted again, but now all i see is a black screen. I cant load up the pc or anything. I have no idea what the problem is i tried a lot of stuff, including checking the ram, i removed 1 stick and same thing happened, did the same with the other stick. I built this rig about a year ago and ill give a general list of stuff.
KN8 ULTRA mobo
AMD 3700+ CPU
7800GT Vid Card
Corsair XMS 2 512mb sticks
250 GB WesternDigital HDD
Samsung DVDRW

Thats about it.

Please help me, i have a lot of important info on that pc and i need it badly.

Thanks
~Pete

Are you able to get into safe mode?

To get into safe mode turn on your computer and TAP F8.

Then Select Safe mode with networking

i dont see anything at all, but i messed around with it a bit and somehow i got it to load up, but as soon as i got to the blue windows xp screen where you choose which user to log onto, when i clicked my name it froze and my pc made a loud beep and completely froze. When i restarted i got the same black screen again, i cant get into bios safe mode or anything, and i cant get it to load up again.

What I am trying to determine is if you are getting video at all. Basically the scope of your problem.

Unplug the monitor from the computer then turn the monitor on do you get a display from the monitor?

Are you getting any beeps?

Is there indication of power to the computer?

I am getting display from the monitor, but not from the computer, it has a built in TV tuner so when i switch to TV it works. All the fans work in the pc, and there is power for sure being run through there. But i am not getting any beeps or anything when i turn it on.

Just to Confirm your computer is 100% functional when you switch it to TV.

If so try reinstalling your graphics card drivers.

You may need to replace your graphics card.

My question was more in regards to how much of your computer works when you plug in your computer to the TV-turner for TV Out?

So far it is currently a No Post/No Video. Now we want to narrow down to one or the other if we can. Then Narrow down to the part.

Do you have another known good video card to try?

Does the system have on-board video? Does it work with that?

Ok that answers a question I had.
I have had some systems complete post and not make that 1 autible beep when it is first turned on.

What we want to do is reduce what power the power supply has to give to the computer we want to get a beep.

We only need the following to post.
Memory,Mainboard,Power, CPU.

What we want to do is start pulling out parts.

First pull of all extra peripherals.
That includes mouse,keyboard,printer,monitor.
Test see if the system beeps.

Second unplug power from all drives.
Hard Drive,CDRom Drives,Floppy,ETC.
Test see if the system beeps.

Third unplug all expiation cards.
This includes all PCI,AGP,PCI-e Cards.
Test see if the system beeps.

Fourth remove the memory.
The system should give you a beep code saying where is my memory.

Fith Reseat the ATX Cable.
That is the big one with the 12+ wires.
test see if the system beeps.

If it does not it is one of the following parts.
Power supply,Mainboard,CPU.
And it may be time to upgrade your computer.
