your right titan.
Basically my response says it all. Intel is trying to pull in an unsuspecting user and rip him/her off. These are two Pentium 4 glued together, thus running very hot, as titan said the E6600 would be your best bet. The Core2duo line are native dual core CPU's as well as more efficiant per clock cycle, basically meaning the Core2duo's can perform more in the same time period then the Pentium D's. The Core2duo are cheaper ( since when) and offer better performance - Much better. With the Core2duo's you'll be able to run much more then with the Pentium D, guaranteed.
James
Edit: They must be phasing out Pentium D's, that is the only reason to suggest the current cost increase.

with the Pentium D wouldn't you be able to run more things at the same time?
I assume you say this because the Pentium D is dual core. The Pentium D was two Pentium 4s glued together. It wasn't truely a dual core CPU. I happened like this because Intel was in a rush to get dual cores on the market before AMD did. AMD's X2s were much better then the Pentium D's of the last generation. Now Intel has their improved dual cores called the Core 2 Duo. AMD has yet to release a line for this generation.
Basically no, you will not be able to run more things at once with the Pentium D compared to the Core 2 Duo. Pentium Ds were never good and now that Intel has a newer and better line of CPUs (best out now) it wouldn't be smart to go with anything less (with Intel).
Edit: You beat me to it James.
