hey just wondering if anyone can help me.

my sisters got this problem with her laptop...

she's using the newest version of windows live messenger, but when she turns on her pc, before the current version is running, she may get someone messaging her, in a conversation box which is clearly of an older original windows messenger. however, there is no contacts list or anything. and i can't find 2 different programmes in add/delete programmes list.

does anyone know how to solve this?

very grateful if you can help :-)

XP comes with Windows Messenger (aka MSN Messenger) by default. Its not the same as Windows Live Messenger which is the same thing but with lots of bells and whistles. The Windows Messenger programme works in the same way as Windows Live Messenger, however it sports the look of older versions of MSN Messenger.

You should just be able to go into this program and turn off in the options the choice to start up with Windows.
