no sound from internet

I can hear sound from media player but not from any internet content. I am using windows xp home edition sound is realtek AC97 audio I would appreciate any help I could get. THANK YOU!

In IE, TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > ADAVANCED...scroll down to PLAY SOUNDS IN WEBPAGES, make sure it is checked
