Hey guys, there are posts which cover my topics, however i cannot find one which covers both my topics together. I have tried several of the suggestions in other posts but i seem to get errors. I'll explain my problem!

When i boot my computer it comes up with the error

'windows could not start because the following file is missing or corupt: \windows\system32\config\system'

So i put in my windows xp pro cd and it comes up with

'the file setupdd.sys could not be loaded. the error code is 7'

I cannot bypass this with using the F7 key.

There are suggestions to get rid of the
'windows could not start because the following file is missing or corupt: \windows\system32\config\system' error by copying temp files and replacing the old files, but i cannot get into command prompt to do so.

If i remove the AGP graphics card it no longer comes up with the missing or corrupt file error, however i just get a blue screen when it begins to boot windows :S.

If anyone knows a fix, or has files that i will be able to create a boot disc with so that i can enter command promt please help!

Sorry i have not replied, i have had two weeks of exams so i thought i should complete them before spending more time fixing the pc.

Yes i am still experiencing the problem. I put the memtest.iso onto a cd but I do not know how to boot from it, when i put the CD in it does not come up with the 'press any key to continue' like win xp does, does anyone know how i can boot this cd?

At what point in windows setup do you get

Your registry is corrupted and it needs to be recovered.

Here is a tutorial I wrote to recover the recover the registry from snapshot.

Please download Memtest86 in my signature.

Unzip memtest86.

Burn memtest86 with a ISO burner.

If you do not have A ISO burner you can use Deepburner

To burn with Deepburner:

Open Deepburner.
Select Burn ISO to disk.
Under Image File
Select the ... Or point to the location where memtest86 is located.
Find the Location where Memtest86 is located click open.
Click Burn ISO

Then please boot to Memtest86.
(Consult your Computer or Motherboard Manufacture manual on how to do so on a lot of systems it should just boot to it.)

Please run overnight. Report back if you get any errors.

If those are the results sounds like you got some bad memory.

How many sticks of memory do you have?

Try the memory in a differnt slot then run memtest.
